Lego Friends Shaana vs the Dragon

Not long after building my Lego version of my character Shaana, I went out and bought the dragon from the older Castle sets. I didn’t want to wait for the 2013 release (which was also slightly goofier looking), and the plan was always to make some kind of diorama of her first dragon fight (yes, she had two).

However, while I was finishing up my Council of Elrond MOC, I had also gotten some new parts. I noticed when the Disney Princess sets were announced that Cinderella looked an awful lot like Shaana with her blue dress. When she arrived I replaced her head with another figure’s, since it had a slightly more fitting face (it’s not like you’re going to get an angry Friends face anyway) and added the same hair I used on the original (Pink Space Girl’s hair). It was a simple matter to spray paint her torso and add some minor detail to the skirt, and to take off the silver details. I had already made two different weapons for Shaana, and the katana was the weapon she used in this fight, so it made sense to give Friends Shaana that one.

To keep the build fairly small, I came up with the idea of a cliff, which allows the dragon to sit slightly more vertically and take up less space, and it also slightly invokes classic images of Gandalf vs the Balrog. It attaches solidly, but also balances on its tail. I added some extensions to make the wing span greater. Since I wanted to do something with the Lifelites I bought before, I included a battery pack in the cliff and gave Shaana a torch, although the light is fairly pitiful. The entire thing was built in a few hours and didn’t need any new parts, since I could reuse much of my old Caradhras set now that the Fellowship has relocated to Rivendell.

For a quick build, I’m very happy with how this came out. Friends Shaana, for all her deformed cuteness, looks rather badass, don’t you think?
