Lego MOC: Town Concert

I’m currently working on expanding the space for my Lego modular street. I’ve got too many ideas and the ten buildings I already have (well, eleven really) barely fit for now. But before I even got the opportunity to set up the space, I was able to finish my next MOC: Town Concert.

There isn’t that much to it, actually. I wanted to have buildings facing a town square. I’m building on the standard modular baseplates with a 16×32 street in front, so I could easily make the square a bit more roomy by using a 48×48 baseplate. It doesn’t show, but the entire area is paved with plates and tiles. The idea was to have someplace to put all those spare figures that tend to turn up somehow, and what better way than arranging a rock concert?

I brought out the band Max Power (literally) from my neighbouring Fancy Suites building where they occupied one of the floors. I’m happy with how they turned out and it’s great to not have to hide them inside the building anymore. The stage was a fairly simple build, inspired by town concerts I’ve been to.

Every good square needs a hamburger van (or three), so I made one to serve all the hungry concert goers. On the opposite side are two portable toilets, taken straight from the recent City build. There’s also a bike rack, a fountain and, currently, the double-decker couch, because those evil villains aren’t going to be shoved around in the crowd like everyone else.

While this square doesn’t have pegs to attach it, it lines up with the modulars, although I cheated a little to get more space by narrowing the street for this section. I was thinking about having a bus stop, but it’s crazy how even 48×48 studs aren’t enough to fit many things. I also had plans for a merchandise stall, but sacrificed it for the toilets.
